INT. LIVING
ROOM- LATE AFTERNOON
Jason and
Veronica spoon each other on the couch and watch television together. Jason tickles Veronica's tummy, tracing
circles around her belly button. Her stomach growls.
VERONICA
Did
you hear that?
JASON
Yeah,
hungry hon?
VERONICA
A
little bit. How about you?
JASON
I could eat.
VERONICA
What should we eat?
Veronica lays
on her back so she can see Jason’s face.
JASON
Do
you want to make something
here?
VERONICA
We’re pretty much out of
everything unless you want
canned soup.
With a frown,
Jason stares off into space, thinking of what to eat.
JASON
I
don’t know, I can eat
anything.
You choose.
VERONICA
I
can eat anything, too.
You
choose.
JASON
Well,
what do you feel like?
VERONICA
Anything!
I’m just really
hungry, sweetie.
JASON
I mean are you
starving,
cuz we can grab some
fast
food?
VERONICA
No, not fast food.
JASON
Ok, no fast food, then
what?
VERONICA
Oh please, just pick
something, anything.
JASON
What are you in the
mood
for? Beef, chicken,
fish? Spicy, not
spicy,
sweet, sour? What’s your
stomach saying?
Trying to be cute, Jason
pinches her tummy, Veronica is not amused.
VERONICA
My stomach says I’m
star-
ving and I’m going to
go
from hungry to hangry
any
second.
JASON
What do you want then?
Veronica looks desperate.
VERONICA
Please, sweetie, just
pick
something.I picked
last time.
I’m hungry, let’s just
go.
JASON
I really don’t care
what we
eat.Whatever makes you
happy.
Veronica rolls off of the
couch and grabs a 9mm Beretta handgun that was hidden away on a shelf. She
springs to her feet and points it at Jason’s chest.
VERONICA
It would make me happy
if
we were sitting
somewhere
eating.
JASON
Then tell me where
that some-
where should be
because, I
DON’T CARE. I just
want to
eat now.
VERONICA
I’m so hungry, I can’t
decide. It’s your
turn,
pick a place.
Jason glances towards the
kitchen. Veronica looks over, too. Jason reaches for the gun, grabs it, and
twists her arm around with the gun still in her hand. He ends up with his arms
around her and the handgun’s barrel pressed into her chin.
JASON
Cuban, we’re going to
have
Cuban food. Plantains,
black
beans, rice…
Veronica’s expression
shows her displeasure with the idea of Cuban food. She wants something
different.
VERONICA
Eh. How about Chinese?
Keeping the gun pointed at
her chin, Jason stares up to think.
JASON
I had Chinese
yesterday.
Veronica stomps on his
foot. He doubles over and the gun slips from their hands. He tries to recover
it but she grabs him, tackles him to his back and straddles him while pinning
his wrists to the floor.
VERONICA
What do you want then
sweetie?
Jason is out of breath.
JASON
Whatever you want.
VERONICA
I’m not that hungry
anymore.
The two smile at each
other. FADE TO BLACK.ROLL CREDITS.
EXT. FAST FOOD RESTAURANT-
EVENING
Veronica and Jason sit at
an outside dining table, finishing their burgers.
JASON
Why does making a
decision
always have to be such
a big
deal with us?
VERONICA
We just want each
other to
be happy, sweetie.
Veronica gives Jason a big
cheesy smile, so big that she has to squint her eyes.
VERONICA
Ooooo, what do you
want to
have for dessert?
JASON
I don’t know, you decide.
CUT TO BLACK.
